the Shimahana Residence Villa offers a luxury, private resort experience with all the comforts of home.
The Grand Villa, one of two villa facilities, is limited to just one group per day and features an open-air bath in
a luxurious 360 square meter private accommodation.
Four bedrooms, hot stone spa, and a kitchen with living and dining space round out the exclusive private facility.
The Garden Villa, originally designed by Japan's foremost modern architect Kenzo Tange,
has been redesigned into four guest rooms with open-air baths by architect Yukihiro Hashimoto.

GRAND VILLA

The Grand Villa offers one guest group per day the chance to stay in luxury with 360 square meters of private space. With four bedrooms, spa area wth an open-air bath and couch-style hot stone spa, and a kitchen area with dining and living space, guests can enjoy the comforts of home while staying in luxury.

Washi Walls of Light
Created by washi paper designer Eriko Horie "Washi no Hikari Kabe"
With the concept of washi paper as a part of living architecture, this original installation was created at a base size of 2.7 by 2.1 meters. From planning to creation, it has been carefully crafted by hand as both interior decoration and art.
GARDEN VILLA

The Garden Villa, originally designed as a getaway villa by the titan of modern Japanese architecture Kenzo Tange, has been redesigned by Yukihiro Hashimoto into a modern facility with four guest accommodations. With terraces that connect guest rooms to the garden, there are two Western-style room types as well as Japanese-Western to fit any accommodation need. All rooms have dining tables and mini-kitchens, so guests can spend their stay in freedom and ease.

Outdoor Sculptures
Sculptor Hideho Takasu's "Kaijin BUN BUN" (Stair Series)
Known as an interior designer who closely collaborates in architecture and space creation, Takasu's works include outdoor sculptures, monuments, as well as commissioned pieces for hotels and other buildings.
Architect Kenzo Tange
Known as "The World's Tange", Kenzo Tange was the first Japanese architect to make a name for himself outside of his home country. Some of his major works include the Hiroshima Peace Park (1952), the Tokyo Olympics stadium (1964), Yoyogi National Stadium (the former National Indoor Stadium, 1970), the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (1991), etc. On Awajishima, Tange's works can be found in Minami Awaji, at the Youth Pavilion, his "The Memorial of War-Dead Students" stands solemnly, and the pen-tip motif of the "Eternal Flame" also commemorates students lost to war.
A Private Open-air Bath Just for You
Rest and relax in Sumoto Onsen's healing and beautifying waters. Said to be good for fatigue, chills, and neuralgia, the waters are known for their beautifying properties as well. With completely private in-room baths, guests can enjoy the spa over and over for as long as they like.
Two Villas All for You
For groups of up to 24 guests, both the Grand and Garden Villas can be reserved together. Perfect for any occasion, from meetings to company or incentive tours, all on-site public spaces are also available to freely use.

Both the Grand and Garden Villa have public lounges that are open to guests of both facilities as shared space. Each have coffee machines and soft drinks available any time, with whiskey and other alcoholic drinks served during the evenings. All are complimentary.

Onsen Spas at Group Hotels
Guests of Residence Villa may use the onsen spa facilities at our group hotels free of charge.
"Ten", the panoramic view bath in Shimahana, overlooks the Kitan Strait. Spa Terrace Mizuki in Hotel New Awaji has two onsen spas: "Awaji Tanada no Yu" and "Kuniumi no Yu". Awaji Yumesenkei's "Tenkyu no Shizuku" also offers a panoramic bath with an unparalleled view of the sea.
